Complete and absolute faith because of what I saw and read in HOX and POX. I guess for me it's about having faith in Hickman's direction driving this suspension of all my disbelief. I realize the more I hang on to the preconceived notions about the characters or continuity of before, the more it might ruin this run for me. I've read most X books since the early 90s and stopped completely during Schism and I honestly don't mind having to chuck out a lot of small details I remember about characters so that I can fully immerse in this new world Hickman is building. But hey i'm pretty sure Yu's art during those instances where there's insane action happening would be best served together sometime in the next few issues. inappropriate? I like Yu's art but you know, I just feel like if it was drawn in any other way, it would have given me more feelz. A must buy if you're not scared of the next step in evolution! more I would eventually like to see a first-rate artist on here to match the first-rate writing, however. I've heard complaints about the art before I read this, and while it doesn't quite measure up to the fantastic pages of HoX and PoX, it certainly isn't bad. The human enemies here are just as determined to destroy the mutant race as the X-Men are determined to thrive. He also makes sure to plant seeds for future obstacles the X-Men will inevitably have to face. It feels like Hickman has been wanting to write these characters his whole life, and it shows through his script how much he loves these troublemaking mutants. Magneto's new status quo as an idol to the growing mutant population is super cool. Every character stands out in their own way. His family is entertaining and it just feels good to see them all together under one roof. It really helps you connect with him, which is great for those that have had a hard time connecting with his character over the past few years, myself included. We get a sense of his new day-to-day life and how much this entire undertaking means to him. Scott Summers is back in the spotlight, and the hope and confidence he brings with him is refreshing. Hickman uses this first issue to bring us up to speed with the field leader of all leaders: Cyclops. This is a great start to the regular ongoing after the HEAVY events of HoX and PoX. The X-Men are back on top of the comic book world and it feels so good.
